Origin of the Material

Every morning, hundreds of Kyiv cafés brew coffee.
We collect what stays behind.
39 handcrafted processes later — it becomes the frame on your face.

Introducing

Eight years. Hundreds of experiments. One material.

Most “sustainable” frames replace one plastic with another and call it progress.
We built a material from scratch.

Coffee grounds + plant-based oils. Pressed, dried, shaped by hand.
The result: a patented bio-composite with up to 80% bio-carbon content — confirmed by ASTM D6866.

No petroleum plastics. No BPA. No filler claims.

What the material does

Water-resistant.

Wearable in the rain, in the snow, in the mountains, and on the beach.

Adjustable with gentle heat.
Warm carefully with a hairdryer and shape to fit your face.

Designed to return to the earth.
Decomposes in around 10 years when disposed of correctly.

What the material can’t promise

The lenses are not biodegradable.
We use cellulose triacetate — the most responsible lens material currently available on the market. And we’re still looking for better.

The coffee scent naturally fades.
After a few weeks, refresh it with a drop of natural oil — or keep the frames in their case to hold the aroma longer.

It’s a bio-composite, not garden compost.
The frame is made to decompose under the right conditions. Correct disposal still matters.

The material comes in four characters

Black

Our original. Pure coffee grounds — nothing added.
A deep matte black surface.
Made to look as clean as plastic, while being entirely natural and coffee-based.

Flax

Coffee grounds with natural flax fibres.
The lightest of the three. Fine linear fibres run through the surface — quiet, organic, and never exactly the same.

Coffee and Wallnut shell

Brown, warm, and more textured to the touch.
The scent carries a soft nutty depth — coffee with walnut, almost like Irish coffee.

Tsvit

Coffee grounds with natural flower petals. Marigold, sunflower, and cornflower petals are layered onto the surface, creating rich organic textures and patterns. Each flower brings its own character, making every frame naturally unique.

Frequently asked questions

Does it actually smell like coffee?

Yes — a real coffee scent, not artificial. Most people notice it the moment they open the box.
It’s strongest in the first few weeks, then fades naturally.
To refresh it, rub the frame gently with a drop of natural aroma oil.

Is it durable? Will it break?

The frames are built for daily life. A metal core runs through each temple. The material handles water, heat, and daily wear without issue. But still be gentle with them, as you’d care for something valuable.

Is the 80% bio-based claim real?

Yes, and we can prove it. The bio-carbon content is measured by ASTM D6866 — the international standard for bio-based materials.

What makes each pair unique?

Every batch of material is mixed separately using real coffee grounds. The grain, texture and colour variation are natural outcomes of the process — no two frames are identical.

Can I get them wet?

Yes. Each frame has a hydrophobic coating. They’ve survived mountain hikes in snow and accidental ocean swims. Just don’t leave them in water for extended periods.

Is the material safe for skin?

Fully. No BPA, no phthalates, no petroleum plastics. CE certified. Safe for daily skin contact.

Why does the material sometimes look different in different light?

Because the coffee grain and natural plant additions create a surface that shifts slightly depending on angle and lighting. That’s not a defect — it’s what makes the material look alive rather than manufactured.
