The ideas worth pursuing are often the ones that seem a little crazy at first.
What began as a challenge to rethink something everyone knows became the foundation of ochis.
The long story short...
The beginning
It's me, little Max, founder of ochis, with my mom and dad — professional opticians with over 30 years of experience.
I grew up surrounded by eyewear: by my parents' attention to detail, their repair shop, their sense of quality, and dedication.
First Idea
I wanted to create something of my own. Something different, alive, and surprising — but still true to what eyewear should be: comfortable, durable, and thoughtfully made.
It's all about trying more
I experimented a lot. Really, a lot. I was looking for the right feeling in the hands and on the face.
And at some point, I realized: this was something I would want to wear myself.
Nowadays
That persistence led me to building our own production cycle in Kyiv, to a team of material and innovation creators, and to a product that is now recognized around the world.
Mom, Dad — you can be proud :)
The world doesn’t need more things. It needs better ones.
This is how we do what we do.
The process of making
Сoffee affects our frames more than you might think
People often joke, “So, is it Arabica or Robusta?”
Cards on the table: Arabica.
But the variety is only the beginning. The region, roast level, freshness, and many other small factors all affect the final frame — its color, texture, and quality.
Coffee is not just an ingredient here. It shapes the material. EXPLORE THE MATERIAL
When you create something no one has done before, there is no manual
Every process, every machine setting, every small adjustment — we had to figure it out by hand.
Not once. Over and over again.
The process made it more than eyewear
When the Milan Design Museum asked to showcase OCHIS in its collection - it was one of those moments when you realize that people don’t see your work as just another pair of glasses.
They see a design object.
We’ve shown OCHIS at fashion weeks, expos, and conferences around the world — and still, every new invitation feels as thrilling as the first one.
We use AI, VR, 3D printing, and other innovations constantly
Yes, we adjust designs by millimeters in VR glasses — turning the frame, checking every angle, seeing how it works in 360° before it exists physically.
We 3D print prototypes before production to test the shape, balance, and fit.
But don’t worry — we still do the most human test of all: we cut the best versions from paper, put them on, and look in the mirror:)
